Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has requested that Sir Celestine Omehia return the entitlements totaling over N695 million that he allegedly improperly collected during his six-month term as governor.
This was said by Wike on Friday during a live media interview in the capital of Rivets State, Port Harcourt.
What is wrong with that, he said, if the Assembly made a mistake and has since realized it?
"I have signed the derecognition instrument, and the prior governor ceases to exist."
When asked what would do if Omehia didn't make the payment after the required seven days, Wike indicated the government had a number of choices.
But Omehia must make a payment or threaten to sue us. The state government has a range of options, so the Attorney General will advise us on what to do.
