On Wednesday, the Arewa community in Lagos State was urged to support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and governor, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as vice presidential candidate Senator Kashim Shettima and governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdulllahi Umar Ganduje.

The governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, accompanied the pair to the market where they met community members who had been waiting patiently for them to arrive. The pair had invaded the well-known Alaba Rago Market in Ojo, Lagos State to rally the Arewa community in the state to support their party.

In order for the APC to win the upcoming general elections in 2023 with a larger margin, Kano State Governor Ganduje sought the community's assistance.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party's presidential candidate, is well-known to Northerners, according to him, thanks to his contributions to the advancement of their people and region.

Ganduje asked the community to show their gratitude for Tinubu's kindness to the Northerners and their region by casting a large number of votes for their party during the election. He urged Lagosians to outnumber Kano State in the votes they will cast for Tinubu and the APC in the upcoming elections.

The governor of Kano described Tinubu as a nationalist without prejudice toward any ethnic group or religion.

He claimed that the involvement of Arewa community members in his administration, while he was the state's governor and the ongoing nomination of their kin as cabinet members by Tinubu's successors in power, are testaments to the character of the man.

The APC vice-presidential candidate, Shettima, thanked the neighborhood for its warm welcome and informed the residents that Arewa is taking revenge on Tinubu in the upcoming general elections.

The former Borno State governor recalled Tinubu's prior backing for other northern politicians, including those who had run for president, including as Muhammad Buhari, Atiku Abubakar, Nuhu Ribadu, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"For those of us from the North, this is payback time. In all electoral circles, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu supported Northern Nigeria candidates for the presidency of Nigeria. When Atiku Abubakar was harassed and expelled from the PDP, it was Asiwaju Tinubu who hosted him and gave him a platform to run for president in 2007.

In the 2014/2015 presidential primary election and subsequent election, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was given a similar opportunity to run for president of this country, but without the bloc votes from the Southwest created by Asiwaju Tinubu. President Muhammadu Buhari was unable to win the APC primary and win the general election; the feat was repeated in the 2019 presidential election, Now is the time for retaliation; as people of honor, we should keep our word and vote for Tinubu for president, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for governor, and all other APC candidates for public office, Shettima told the Arewa community.

The community was also promised by the state's governor, Sanwo-Olu, a constant dividend of democracy in the form of infrastructure and other comforts in Lagos State.

He asked members of the neighborhood to support APC candidates in the upcoming general elections.

Alhaji Saadu Yusuf, the chairman of the Lagos APC Arewa, spoke on behalf of the Arewa community in the state and pledged to cast their votes for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, and other APC candidates in the next elections.
