Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, notably skipped the PDP's official flag-off of its presidential campaign on Monday in Akwa-Ibom.

The event was also skipped by his alleged allies, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Seyi Makinde, and Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Their absence might have something to do with the Wike camp's insistence that PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu resign.

Additionally, the PDP launches its official presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom.

Insisting that it does not represent the party's national character, the Wike camp has maintained that it is unethical for the PDP to have a northern candidate for president and National Chairman.

Additionally, they claim that Ayu made a resignation vow if a northerner won the PDP presidential primary.

Ayu, on the other hand, has sworn to continue serving as National Chairman, and Atiku's spokespeople have made it clear that the presidential candidate has no plans to remove Ayu or the authority to do so.

The Wike camp announced their exit from the Atiku presidential campaign in September.

campaign's start

The PDP campaign flag-off continued at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo despite the absence of the Wike campaign.

There were PDP leaders present, including Atiku Abubakar, the party's presidential candidate, and former vice president, as well as Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, and Udom Emmanuel, the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, and Ahmadu, the governor of Adamawa, were also present.

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa, as well as Dino Melaye, a former lawmaker from Kogi West, were also there.

The PDP campaign will begin just four months before the 2023 presidential election.

In turns speaking to the throng in Uyo, Atiku, Okowa, Ayu, and Emmanuel promised to save the nation if the PDP won the election the following year.
