According to the statement, Nigeria was at a turning moment in its history and it was crucial to encourage the populace to cast informed ballots in advance of the national elections in 2023.

The report said, "Therefore, the challenge before us is to assure the emergence of transformational leaders with a thorough understanding of the issues and the political will to sail the ship of our great nation towards shared economic prosperity.

The statement went on to say that the strategic alliance between the two parties would begin the process of realizing a Nigerian dream.

The NESG's #IfNotNowWhen? The initiative, which aims to educate stakeholders and Nigerian citizens on peaceful, educated, and accountable democratic engagement, includes the debate, which is slated for November.

It stated that NEDG, a coalition of broadcast organizations, civil society organizations, and professional organizations charged with organizing and hosting live televised debates for presidential, vice presidential, and gubernatorial candidates since 1999, was well-positioned to facilitate this effort.
